Ernest
W. Lee II (Ernie) was born in Monroe County, Tennessee, in 1960, the youngest
of four children and the only son of Ernest and Ruth Ellen Lee. He grew
up in a family that owned a construction business operated by his father
and uncles. The business was located in seven (7) southeastern states
and eventually after his father bought out the other brothers, the business
was based in Atlanta. Ernie's mother was a school teacher and homemaker.
Ernie Lee attended Clarkston High School in the Atlanta. He graduated
from Mercer University with a BA in Psychology in 1989 and holds a diploma
from the Institute on International and Comparative Law held at the University
of London, Kings College, sponsored by University of San Diego School
of Law.
Ernie received his Juris Doctor from Samford University's Cumberland School
of Law in 1989. Past employers include Lee Bros, Inc.; Georgia Department
of Revenue; Georgia Department of Technical and Adult Education; Georgia
Department of Human Resources, Division of Public Health; West Publishing;
and the Savannah College of Art and Design.
Ernie relocated to Savannah
from Atlanta in 2003. Currently he holds a position on the Board of
Directors of Senior Citizens Inc., and is the President of the Church
Council of the Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church, Savannah. Ernie
was installed as a new member of the Rotary International in the Savannah
Club - West. He is a member of the Savannah Small Business Chamber,
the American Bar Association, the Savannah Bar Association, the Stonewall
Bar Association of Georgia and the State Bar of Georgia.
Mr. Lee is a member of
the "Bootleggers Lunch," a weekly meeting of gourmets, professional
and non-professional chefs to try new restaurants in the low country.
In the past Mr. Lee worked with such organizations as Georgia Equality,
the Georgia Minority Supplier Development Council and as a volunteer
lobbyist with the Georgia Dump Truck Association. He resides in Ardsley
Park area of Savannah and is a member of the Ardsley Park Chatham Crescent
Neighborhood Association. Ernie has a 15 year old black lab-Australian
shepherd mix named Eppie and a 5 year old golden retriever named Dalton.
